Lucy Taylor is an award-winning journalist with more than a decade’s experience working in radio, television and both business and consumer publications around the globe.
After studying English and Philosophy at the UK’s University of Nottingham, Lucy went on to gain an NCTJ Diploma in Newspaper Journalism. She subsequently worked across a variety of British newspapers and magazines, specialising in real life stories - before making the move to Dubai in 2007.
Here, she joined the team of Hotelier Middle East as deputy editor, before taking on the role of editor on sister title Caterer Middle East, which she held for two years - and blames for fanning her fascination with all things food and drink-related.
In 2010, she moved to join Arabian Radio Network as News Editor, handling a team of reporters in driving news content across three stations.
Two years later, Lucy developed and launched The Travel Show: a daily two-hour programme airing on talk radio station Dubai Eye 103.8FM, focusing on international exploration, as well as leisure, events, activities and attractions across the UAE.
In the new role of Travel and News Editor, she produced and presented The Travel Show along with co-host Mark Lloyd, as well as handling travel, tourism and hospitality-related content for news output and business shows.
During this period, she also contributed to Dubai television station City7 as a reporter on the programme UAE Weekly - which saw her producing and presenting features on key issues and events impacting the local community.
Lucy has spent the first half of 2015 on the road, exploring South and Central America as well as Mexico; honing her Spanish skills, freelancing for a variety of print and broadcast outlets and creating travel videos and podcasts for this website. In July, her video work was recognised with two 2015 Trippy Awards: the Destination Profile Award: Best Destination Video, and the Better Than A Guidebook Award: Best Activity Video.
To date, Lucy has travelled to and reported from more than 50 countries around the globe – including Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, the Palestinian Territories, India, Singapore, Thailand, Malta, Italy, Macedonia, Ukraine, Mexico and Australia.
